Topic:  Loyalty doesn't pay: Australians slugged with " lazy tax" of up to $2400 per year

Notes:

  • Increase the health insurance payments.
  • Being loyal with the same insurance company doesn't help.
  • People are lazy with looking around for cheaper options.
  • Stuck with same insurance company can cost more money.
  • It's cheaper for insurance companies to keep their customers than trying to get new ones.

Summary:

from the 1st of April, health insurance payments will be increasing by 3.25 percent. This could cost customers as much as an extra $200 a month. Most people are lazy with their expenses and don't look around for cheaper options and just stay with the same company.
Being loyal with the same insurance company doesn't help. The insurance company won't tell you about ways that they can make it cheaper for you unless you ask them. They don't want to lose your business because it is cheaper for them to keep their customers than trying to find new ones.

Reflections:

After reading this article, I would say that people need to stop being lazy with their expenses and be aware of cheaper options and that they don't have to be loyal to the same company. They should look around regularly to find less expensive options and also talk to their current insurance company about cheaper options for them.
